Guatemala
Guatemala at a Glance
This beautiful country is a picture of contrasts. Vast, mountainous terrain along with crowded city streets. A thriving, modern economy side by side with indigenous people groups who prefer a simpler way of life. Erupting volcanoes in plain view while tourists sip coffee at a local cafe. Tremendous natural resources and beauty together with the blight of poverty. Ornate, ancient cathedrals that remain empty most of the year and yet holy week festivities that fill the streets with devoted participants fulfilling elaborate rituals. Such texture gives Guatemala both depth and complexity. It also makes ministry challenging and rewarding.
Lifeline in Guatemala
After scouting out the opportunities and conducting initial evangelism efforts with our leaders from El Salvador, Lifeline began working in Guatemala in 2011. The early years were difficult, full of challenges and resistance toward outsiders. But the leaders’ tenacity, along with the goodness of God, have established a firm foundation in Guatemala now that is beginning to multiply. The initial church that began in San Jose Pinula (on the outskirts of the capital city) is now reaching into nearby communities in the mountains, developing meaningful relationships, establishing house churches, and being “good news” in communities that are often neglected.
Lifeline is equally passionate about YOU.
You can make an impact when you connect your passion and abilities with God's work in a global community.
