Hats Off to our Grads in Ecuador!

Written by Claudia Meerkaemper, Ecuador Education Manager

In the foothills of the Andes mountains, above the city of Quito, Ecuador, Lifeline's school Rey Sabio Salomón (Wise King Solomon) is celebrating. On July 23rd, sixteen students graduated from our high school! This was our second graduating class.

The graduation was a very emotional event! This achievement did not come easily to these students, and required perseverance in the face of many obstacles. Together, we celebrated their achievements, but also the stages of life that they went through. This reflection helped us see Jesus at work in their lives. Each of the students has a unique story: as individuals, as family members, and as part of the larger group.

We promised the graduates that in five years, we will gather together again, unearth and open their buried time capsule, and share where Jesus took each of them in those five years. The graduation ceremony ended not with "Good-bye" but with "See you later!" At the ceremony, we encouraged our graduates to be faithful to the mission that Christ gave us as His ambassadors, which is to reconcile the world to God.

As teachers and school leaders, we have grateful hearts and feel so blessed to have been part of their lives. We fully trust that the Lord Jesus will germinate the seeds that we planted, all in His time. Now, as they start a new season in their lives, we know that we will always be family in Christ Jesus.
